Erika Christine Photography // Michigan Wedding Photographer

Updated: Mar 6, 2020

I absolutely love working alongside Erika from Erika Christine Photography. The first time I met Erika she was working with Breanne from Breanne Rochelle Photography at a wedding at The Colony Club. Fast forward a couple months and she’s the photographer for my cousin’s wedding. (I referred her to my cousin and of course Kat fell in love with her) She did an AMAZING job, photographing every little detail and effortlessly capturing Rob + Kat so in love.

How did you get started as a wedding photographer?

I was always into photography as a hobby as long as I can remember. Growing up, my dad also had a love for photography so I would play with his camera every chance I had. Eventually people started offering to pay me to photograph their families, senior photos, etc. and weddings followed quickly!

What is your approach to photographing weddings?

My goal is to capture the day as authentically as possible. I want the couple to look back at their photos and remember exactly how they felt that day and how much they love each other. I do pose my couples for formal portraits, but most of my favorite moments are the in between moments of the day that can't be recreated or duplicated.

What is your favorite wedding memory?

I don't know if I can pinpoint one all time favorite, but I love hearing all the toasts at dinner and learning even more about my couples. And I always end up crying like a baby behind my camera hahhaa.

What advice do you have for brides choosing vendors?

My number one piece of advice would be to choose vendors you trust!! I cannot stress this enough. If you do not fully trust your vendors, you will be stressed out about so many things during the day and it will take away from your enjoyment. I highly recommend a wedding coordinator, even if it is just day of coordination, so they can deal with all of the other vendors for the couple to eliminate the stress of being pulled in a million different directions. Photographers and videographers are with the bride and groom the most during the day, so make sure you choose someone who you get along with and would want by your side just as much as your bridal party that day.

Why do you love working with 97 Films?

Of course I love working with 97 films! Everyone on the team is so fun and we always have a blast together. The whole team is so talented and all of the videos come out beautifully. I love working with them so much that I'm having them shoot my own wedding! :)
