Sabena + Masood had an incredible traditional Muslim wedding weekend at the Novi Suburban Collection Showplace Diamond Center. I was so honored to get to film their weekend as the cinematographer. There was so much to see and take in, and I loved the challenge of capturing it all. The weekend was hosted entirely at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, MI, just outside Detroit. It began with the festive and colorful Mehendi night complete with henna, dancing and a traditional ceremony. Sabena + Masood watched the gift of dances from a pristine couch on the stage. I was particularly impressed with Sabena’s ability to smoothly walk in magenta satin high heels. They matched her colorful gown; she looked beautiful! It was a celebratory evening that set the stage for the rest of the weekend.

The next day was wedding day. The baraat kicked it off and Masood rolled in riding in a black convertible decorated in flowers and white chiffon. Everyone danced and celebrated, and shortly after it was time for the ceremony. Sabena wore a gorgeous light green chiffon gown detailed with rhinestones. She parents escorted her down the flower-sprinkled aisle and they took their places on the stage along with Masood and his parents. Sabena + Masood exchanged gorgeous floral garlands and just like that, they were husband and wife. Sabena changed into an airy burgundy gown detailed with pearls and embroidery. Masood changed into a dapper black tuxedo and the couple was introduced in the grand ballroom for the reception.

A white stage was set with a unique white backdrop dotted with candles. Sabena + Masood took to the dance floor. Two members of the wedding party serenaded them with a beautiful song as they danced their first dance. Soon after their wedding party and guests quickly followed.

A fun touch to the reception was when the Michigan State Spartan mascot came through the doors and got the crowd riled up. He danced with the guests, gave high fives, did the conga line and was there to send off Sabena + Masood with sparklers. It was a weekend of celebration, surrounded by the people who love them the most. Congratulations Sabena + Masood!
